Did You Know - Facts about the characters

trivia # 7 - what happened to Chandral and Melanger?

I was going to send Chandral off into cyber character oblivion but started to like having her around too much. So, Chandral and Melanger were initially supposed to be an item.

Then Bec told me she liked Tashan and I wasn't allowed to kill her off! Initially I was going to have Lili torn between Tarra and Tash but AGAIN Bec said that was a no no!! Lili wouldn't cheat on Tarra, and no, she wouldn't have.

So I had to distract Tashan from Lili and, sorry Melanger, Chandral was the ideal candidate.

The couples were going to stay the way they were but then Tarra and Tashan started spending more time together as did Lili and Chandral. The rotten sods then started to get on too well and eventually I would have had to split them up and re-partner them.

Then there was the whole Lili and Tashan partnership and the twins would have been heartbroken!! When I gave that little idea to Bec, well the fireworks flew!

So, because Bec is a HUGE prude, I reworked the beginning of book 3 and had the blondes win the lotto with 3 wives each!! Bec nearly choked on her tongue, her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets BUT she read it and said 'I knew that was going to happen, it's been heading that way for ages!'. So I left it that way!!

Bec's mum has read book 3, started on book 4. Her only negative comment was 'I didn't like the way you married the four of them!' BUT she's pushing me to have book 5 ready for when she's finished 4!!

I haven't been putting in explicit sex scenes because I don't want to offend anyone. But these four women are very passionate, giving and totally insane with love for each other. That I will always be explicit about.

Oh and I could have very easily had them running behind each others backs to fool around, but the characters just wouldn't do that.

Trivia fact # 6 - why all the different jobs for the Queens?
Well, that's easy.

Do you know one woman who is just a female? Or just a mother? Or just whatever her job title is?

Personally, I am a mother, partner, lover, sister, friend, in law, writer, health professional, motorbike rider, dog owner, car owner, computer game enthusiast, movie and tv show critic and fan, avid reader, shopper (hate this unless it's related to computers or dvds), citizen of Queensland and Australia.

And that was without thinking too hard.

So, with the Queens they are the same. They're Queens and Guardians, mothers, partners, sisters, daughters etc. As the story was always intended to be about the characters more than the situations they got themselves into I've tried to make them into as fully developed people as possible.

As I said in another post, I have a very limited attention span, so if I get bored with the politics or dungeon or war stuff I quickly move on. The limitations of the era also started to bore me so that's why they started to get the goodies such as the travel rings from the Fairies. The infinity bag wasn't a huge stretch of the imagination, as all tv show characters always seem to have very small bags that always have huge frypans, winter jackets or an unlimited amount of food in them!!

Trivia fact # 5 - Why all the dungeons??
I love the pc game 'Darkstone'. It's rather old now but the graphics are still good and I love it! We recently moved into a new home and I couldn't find my disc of the game!! I was having real withdrawal symptoms! :-) I found it last Friday and am now way less antsy and much happier.

Well, for those of you who don't know the storyline of Darkstone, you get to pick two characters who wander around different areas of the game, clearing out dungeons and finding treasure. I always have two female characters, of course, a warrior and a thief. I name them Buffy, Xena, Tarra or Ziva after my favourite kickass tv show characters.

I have the attention span of a goldfish so I get bored with constantly fighting the enemy. So I started playing on autopilot while making up little stories about what the characters were up to. I gave them families and while they were fighting they'd  be talking about what they were going to be having for dinner that night or what they were going to do when their daughters started getting interested in the 's' word.

My partner was doing a course when we first moved to Queensland, April 2012, and I drove her 45 minutes each way to it. I then sat and waited for three hours while the training was going on and became very bored very quickly. So I packed up my baby computer and started putting all the adventures I'd imagined in Darkstone on 'paper'. I eventually got brave enough to let my partner read it and she kept egging me on to do more. The course went for 6 weeks so that's how the first two books were written.

My partner pushed me to post the first two parts on the internet so I sent them to the Royal Academy of Bards and the Athenaeum.

So that's how the characters really started and why all the dungeons are included.

trivia fact # 4 - Chance
Chance the tiny Mystic Chimp was not going to survive. But when my partner read the part where Chance was found she bawled something dreadful. After that, Chance had to make a remarkable recovery!!

I'm just not allowed to kill anyone!!

trivia # 3 - all that hugging and kissing!!
When I first started writing about Tarranna, she was a tough chicky babe who didn't like to be touched... Boy has that changed!!

The reason this is happening is because I'm seeing more and more demands from society that we are not to be touched. Only a week ago there was a news item where a 4 year old girl was in terrible strife because she dared to kiss a little boy when they were at day-care. How pathetic is that? I tremble to think the poor kid is going to go through life repressing any feelings she has! How long will it be before our kids are like that little chimp scientists tormented years ago. The one where she would rather snuggle into a soft, warm artificial mother than eat. Yeah, child abuse is horrific but when you stop kids being demonstrative kids where's the line going to end? God help her if she'd kissed another girl!!

Aside from that, if you had two gorgeous wives wouldn't you want to hug and kiss them any chance you had?

Trivia fact # 2 - Dragonball
Dragonball is a compilation of several games. The circular field and vertical goal posts is AFL, the circular playing field really fitted the circle of life theme of the story.

The circle on top of the vertical posts was again in regard to circle of life and the different points for the vertical posts vs goal circle was again AFL. AFL also plays a big part in the way the players attack each other (eg running up the opponent's back to grab the ball).

The baton's are based on a miniature softball bat I was once given. I enjoy whacking a softball so it made sense to me to include that too!

The return to the middle after a goal happens in many of the games I've played. The ball being dropped in by the dragons was my spin on the usual toss up or ball bounce.

 trivia tidbit # 1 - Tashan
Tashan was not going to be an integral part of the stories. She was going to be killed off late in book 2. Luckily for Tashan, Bec (my proof reader and character conscience) likes Tash and guilt tripped me with, if I killed her Chandral and Lili would be devastated and how could I do that to them?

So, I had to go back through book 1 and add Tashan into the book more often. She never went into the dungeon where they found the dragons, hence only 3 being there. That's why they had to find the fourth baby dragon in the next story.
